Coach and Member Support
1. RATIONALE AND PURPOSE
1.1 The West Australian Rowing Club is committed to provide equitable club services and to achieve a balance between affordability and sustainable club operations.
1.2 The West Australian Rowing Club is committed to promoting the sport of rowing.
1.3 The West Australian Rowing Club is committed to supporting club coaches and members to improve safety, member service, performance and legal obligations.
2. POLICY GUIDELINES
2.1 A coach is someone recognised by the West Australian Rowing Club Management Committee as having responsibility for the development and improvement of a cohort of athletes with a mimimum committment of coaching once per week for 12 weeks in a calendar year.
2.2 All coaches at the WA Rowing Club are required to have a Recreational Skippers Ticket (RST). The Club may, at the Committee’s discretion, pay the cost of one session of training. Should the coach fail to obtain the RST the first session, the coach is liable for subsequent sessions.
2.3 The Club may, at the Committee’s discretion, pay the full course fee for accredited coaching (Level 1 and 2) course for a coach already coaching club crews and/or a member who intends to coach club crews.
2.4 At the Committee’s discretion, coaches may choose one of the following: To work as coach or assistant coach in lieu of their own Ordinary Membership, or apply for a sessional paid position. A coach may not receive both sessional payment and gratis Ordinary Membership.
2.5 The Club may, at the Committee’s discretion, financially contribute to costs incurred by a coach when accompanying WARC crew/s to interstate regattas for coaching support.
Support Roles
2.6 The Club may, at the Committee’s discretion, financially contribute to members and/or volunteers supporting club crews at interstate regattas. For example; squad managers and trailer towers.
2.7 The Club may, at the Committee’s discretion, financially contribute to club crews participating in interstate regattas.
2.8 The Club may, at the Committee’s discretion, financially contribute to club members securing a Responsible Service of Alcohol qualification for the purpose of benefiting the West Australian Rowing Club
2.9 In considering offering any financial support for any reason, the Committee is required to assess against the Club’s financial situation and impact on the whole of the Club.
